Willie Hicks
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their
synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness
and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was
moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like
sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly
is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the
harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
Matthew 9:35-38 NKJV
Minister Willie Hicks
firmly believes this scripture applies to the church’s need for a more
concerted effort on evangelism and discipleship. He often mentioned to Pastor
Beckley and Minister Strong the need to follow-up on visitors and new members
in a more efficient way. Pastor Beckley and Minister Strong use the
following principle to fill ministry positions: “if a leader sees a need and
is passionate enough about that need perhaps that person is the one who is
called to fill that need.” Using this principle, Minister Hicks was asked by
the Executive Staff to focus on following up on new members and visitors.
Minister Hicks realized these were very broad areas of ministry and he could
not do all of the work alone. He began recruiting additional laborers to
help with this process. He also remembered what Jesus said, "The harvest is
plentiful but the laborers are few." In the near future, the Harvest Care
ministry will develop ministries associated with terms such as "Personal
Care," "Fitly Joined," "Care Room," and "Senior Care" to help produce
laborers to meet the harvest.
I was asked to tell you a
little about myself. Although my father, Will Hicks, lived in the same area,
I was raised primarily by my mother, Anna Ross. I have one brother, and
eight sisters. I am a divorced father of one son, Daniel.
I was raised in a Christian
home. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior at the age of twelve. I was
also, baptized at that age. I lived for the Lord from that time until I
reached the age of sixteen. As a teenager, I became involved in drugs and
alcohol. After a series of events, I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ in
1984. I entered the ministry the following year.
I have served in various
roles in the ministry. I have been used of God as a Minister, Youth Pastor,
Evangelist, Assistant Pastor, Interim Pastor, and Senior Pastor. Those
titles are just a few of the titles that God has allowed me to hold.
Academically, I have
completed classes at Bible college and seminary. I currently hold an
associate’s degree and a bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am currently
pursuing a Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
I love the whole Bible, but the gospel of John, the book
of Philippians, and the life of David are the portions of scripture that I
read the most. I love a wide variety of Gospel music.
